Compassionate, evidence-based psychological services for children, adolescents, and young adults in Orange County

Welcome! I’m a clinical psychologist who specializes in helping teens and young adults overcome challenges with anxiety, depression, and OCD. My approach is grounded in mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — evidence-based methods that teach clients how to step out of cycles of worry, sadness, and self-criticism, and move toward what matters most in their lives. I work with adolescents, young adults, and families throughout Orange County, offering therapy that is practical, relatable, and focused on building lasting resilience.

About

About me

Hi, I’m Dr. David Whitsett, PsyD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

I have a passion for helping teens, young adults, and families navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. As both a psychologist and a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to watch a child or young adult struggle with overwhelming emotions, self-doubt, or the pressures of school and growing up. It’s a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they build resilience, confidence, and new ways of approaching life.

I earned my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Loyola University Maryland, and I completed my predoctoral and postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology and integrated care at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), where I provided care in the Emergency Department, oncology and general floors, and for outpatients. I also have advanced training in treating anxiety problems in children using cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition to my clinical work, my research has been published in high-impact psychology journals such as the Journal of Pediatric Psychology and the Journal of Youth and Adolescence.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, bird-watching, climbing, building in my wood shop, and spending time with my wife and two children.
